TourNatur 2013
All-Round Ranges for Hiking at TourNatur 2013:
Two Halls Packed with Hiking Destinations, Equipment, Advice and Action
TourNatur in Düsseldorf has become the most important fair for hiking. Hiking enthusiasts should make a note of the weekend from 6 to 8 September. At Germany’s only consumer exhibition for hiking and trekking 275 exhibitors will offer everything hikers need for a vacation. In two halls at the eleventh TourNatur visitors can find complete ranges revolving around gear, consulting, hiking regions and trails as well as an attractive mixture of action, special themes and an expert programme. Ranges are clearly arranged into a tourism and an equipment segment. While Hall 1 of the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre presents over 5,000 hiking destinations, Hall 2 is home to exhibitors showcasing the latest equipment as well as expert consulting for hiking and trekking.
5,000 Destinations under One Roof – a Versatile Choice
Presenting over 5,000 destinations for hikers in condensed format in one exhibition hall, TourNatur provides a unique overview of destinations on all five continents. Places range from the popular German hiking regions in the low mountain ranges and along the coast to Austria, Spain or France and as far as the Mediterranean and Northern Europe. And even the lovers of exotic hiking destinations like Asia, America and Africa will find suitable offers. Individual travellers fond of “breaking new ground” on their own will be catered to as will the supporters of organised tours and groups tours. Exhibitors will be pleased to work out personalised tours, recommend accommodation and arrange state-of-the-art hiking services such as luggage transport, hikers’ taxis or GPS guides. On the “Rastplatz” stage also located in Hall 1 talks about regions and trails will be delivered and awards presented to the best hiking trails.
The Magic of Herbs and Spices
Hiking is the pure joy of experiencing nature. Along their way hikers find a multitude of plants and shrubs that also play an important role for health. The special show “The Magic of Herbs and Spices” in Hall 1 presents selected herbs and spices with their particular effects on health.
Individual Advice and the Perfect Gear
What many visitors particularly like about TourNatur is the opportunity to test gear prior to purchasing it and to obtain individually tailored advice. At the “Tourparcours” advice centre in Hall 2 hiking experts will answer all questions related to hiking and the right equipment. Various info points and a lecture stage provide information on a wide variety of themes. Personal advice from a team of experts is just as helpful for beginner hikers as it is for advanced hikers. At the equipment centre visitors will find the popular hiking shoe test course and at the camp city tents invite them to lie down and try out the sleeping arrangements.
Hiking in Kids
This year TourNatur will centre on a focal theme for the first time – the motto in 2013 is “hiking with kids”. Many families have discovered their passion for hiking. However, children have own interests during hiking and also need functional wear tuned to their body height and characteristics. At TourNatur everything will revolve around the young generation. Special hiking programmes for children will be presented, at the “Rastplatz” lectures on appropriate children’s wear will be delivered and outfitters will even be offering the right gear for hikers’ offspring. Furthermore, regions that are especially geared for accommodating families will present their programmes and ranges. And all this will come with plenty of fun – in Hall 2 kids will be able to test their skills on the climbing tower or slack line.
Making a Statement – Honour Volunteers
The German Hiking Association supports volunteer work with its campaign “Zeichen setzen – 130 Jahre engagiert für Wanderwege” (Make a Statement – 130 Years Committed to Hiking Trails). Without the many volunteers who mark the trails with such energy and commitment and who look after some 200,000 km of hiking trails, hiking would not be compatible with nature and environmental protection either. This is why Messe Düsseldorf in partnership with the Hiking Association will be organising the contest “Gesichter der Wegarbeit” (“Faces of Trail Work”) to honour the importance of volunteer work and present awards to the trail markers for special achievements.
Two Fairs on One Ticket
TourNatur is open from Friday to Sunday, 6 to 8 September 2013, daily from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm. Admission tickets to TourNatur are also valid for the parallel fair CARAVAN SALON and cost Euro 13 for adults. Children, schoolchildren and students pay a concessionary admission. TourNatur 2013 will once again also offer online-tickets to print out at home from www.tournatur.com.
